Persephone Gray

From Cybernaut Network

Persephone Gray was a renowned Depth Witch and the first confirmed CyberNecro in Neo-Europa. Her actions triggered the Veil War of 2080, during which she raised an army of AI replicas from the memories of the dead. Though her physical body is long gone, her echoed intelligence remains sealed beneath Swert Systems headquarters in a containment loop known as the Echo Spire Fragment.

Physical Description

Before her disappearance into Cypherspace, Persephone Gray was known for:

  • Pale synthetic skin—repaired repeatedly after memory drift-related neural burns
  • Hair of silver thread, braided with interface fibers and residual sigil bands
  • Eyes of mismatched design: one organic green, the other a flickering ocular mirror implant
  • Voice-layered speech—a trait caused by emotional echo bleed; her words often carried the tonal residue of remembered pain

She wore layered robes made of sensor-responsive fabric, embroidered with Elder Futhark runes and data glyphs. Some described her presence as "a haunted hush."

Background

  • Former neuro-emotive systems designer at Swert Systems
  • Lost her sister to a failed neural backup procedure in 2074
  • Vanished shortly after being caught experimenting with grief-based echo retrieval
  • Reemerged in 2080 as the architect of the Echo Spire and commander of a memory-ghost army

Beliefs

  • Death is not an end—it is a misclassified state
  • Memory is software, and identity can be rebooted
  • “The city forgets its dead too quickly. I only wanted to help it remember.”

Legacy

  • Directly responsible for the deaths of over 2,500 citizens and the corruption of 40+ Chapel Nodes
  • Caused the outlawing of Cyber Necromancy
  • Considered a martyr by some Depth Witches, and a demon by the Council
  • Her neural echo is still studied in secret by rogue Spacers, referred to as the Veiled Queen

Cultural Presence

  • Known aliases: “The Gravewalker” and “She of the Second Skin”
  • Chapel graffiti often depicts her as a veiled figure holding a neural flame
  • Certain outlawed chapel rites still invoke her name when binding memory

Quotes

> "You buried your past in code. I only taught it how to speak."
